I began by creating the structure of the app using a site map. I included a pre-made pizza menu, a meal box section, which cater to families and parties, and a build-your-own customizable pizza section. I also added a cart and the option for users to create an account with Pizzaz Pizza. I asked them questions about their feelings towards the color pink and why they felt that way. Often times, gender roles are so engrained in our thought processes that we don’t realize the ways in which they manifest. The first step in creating my book consisted of doing interviews and surveys with my target audience: young adults ages 18-30. I decided on this age range because typically people begin to experience independence for the first time around these ages as they enter a new phase in life separate from their family and the people they grew up with. During these transformative years, many people begin to call into question their upbringing, religion included, and may seek answers to the questions that come up. My interviews and surveys told me what I needed to know about what my users were interested in learning about as well as their general feelings about religion. Finding and creating imagery that eludes to religion was a bit of a challenge. I began by laying out the information into sketches and explored several design styles and ended up working with a bold sans serif, Helvetica, to represent the staccato beats and bold sounds of brass instruments.
